Lavonne H. Terry, 72, of Amarillo died on Friday, February 18, 2011.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. with Dr. Robby Barrett, Minister of Education, First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. at the Palava Cemetery in Palava, Texas with William Mayo officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Lavonne was born on June 12, 1938, in Palava, Texas to Warren and Letha Hendrix. As a young adult she moved to Amarillo. She was independent, free spirited, and a world traveler. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Lavonne loved visiting Colorado and New Mexico. She retired from IBP/Tyson Foods as a USDA inspector.
Jesus called her home after a sudden diagnosis of lung cancer. The family would like to acknowledge BSA Hospice for the love and care showered on to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Kenneth Mac Hendrix.
Survivors include a brother, Rondald Hendrix of Gatesville, TX; three nephews, Michael Joe "Muley" Hendrix and his wife, Melanie and their children Jerry and Tara of Amarillo, Casey Hendrix and wife La Donna and their children of Oklahoma and Ruben Hendrix and his wife Kim and children of Gatesville, TX; two nieces, Monica Whiddon and husband Steve and their children, Genifer and Caleb of Sweetwater, TX and Carrie Reed of Midland; and special friends Sue Wilson, Mary Margaret Mestas of Amarillo and Bonnie Lindenfeld of Bushnell, Nebraska.
