L.D. “Snake“ Gatson, age 77, of Eastland, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011 in Eastland.
Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, March 5, at 2 p.m. at the Eastland City Cemetery with Rev. Danny Brown officiating. Services are under the direction of the Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland.
L. D. Gatson was born on June 27, 1933, in Hempstead Texas to the late L.D. Gatson, Sr. and Tiney Williams Gatson. He had been a resident of Eastland for the last forty years, formerly of Sweetwater and Breckenridge. He had worked as a vending operator for Big Country Vending in Eastland for 35 years, and Big Country Recycling for six years.
Survivors include five daughters, Hazel Pimpton and husband Garylen of Sweetwater; Peta McCoy and husband Jamee of Sweetwater, Janett Leaks of California, Sara Short and husband Ronnie of Ranger, Mary Burger and husband Allen of Ranger; 35 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; former wife, Frances Ramsey of Ranger; brother-in-law, Dub Ramsey and wife Linda of Eastland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by former wife, Dorothy Heath; parents, L.D. and Tiney Gatson, Sr.; brother, Frank Ray; and special grandmother, Granny Pearl.
