Lee Roy Goolsby

ROBY- Lee Roy Goolsby, 77, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at a Lubbock hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at the First Baptist Church of Roby with Bro. Jerry Vincent officiating. Burial will follow in Roby Cemetery under the direction of Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Born Sept. 3, 1933, in Muleshoe, TX, Lee was a son of the late Roy H. and Iva Mae (Childers) Goolsby. Lee was a life-long resident of Roby where he graduated high school in 1951. Most of his family and friends knew Lee by his nickname “Goob”. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War in 1952 and was honorably discharged in 1955. Lee farmed most of his life and was an excellent professional pipeline welder by trade.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Danny Lee Goolsby; one granddaughter, Amber Danielle Goolsby; two brothers, Ray and Gene Goolsby; and two sisters, Helen and Belle Goolsby.
Lee is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Lee Roy Goolsby of MO and Mike and Beth Goolsby of Richmond, TX; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Lynn Goolsby, Rita and Kenneth Taylor of Hobbs, NM, Linda Mulkey of Hobbs, NM and Lea Ann and Scott Luce of Hobbs, NM; 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
