Lela Drury Smalling

Graveside services for Lela Drury Smalling, 96, of Crane, formerly of Stephenville, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Palava Cemetery. Mike Crowley will officiate an interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Smalling died Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Crane Nursing Home in Crane, Texas.
She was born June 30, 1916 in Harmony, Okla. She married Cecil Smalling on April 8, 1939 in Altus, Okla.
Lela was the last surviving child of 10 children. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Cecil worked for the U.S. Border Patrol, so he and Lela lived all over the United States. Lela made a comfortable home for her family. She loved to travel, play cards and play dominos.
Survivors include her daughters, Martha Harvey of Sweetwater, Phyllis Tadlock and husband Rick of New Braunfels, Rebecca Ray and husband Jim of Crane and Julie Ranger of Tacoma, Wash.; grandchildren, Chuck Harvey and wife Jan of Sweetwater, Greg Harvey and wife Holly of Potosi, Kathy Santos and husband Pete of New Braunfels, Tanya Harvey Peters and husband Pat of Lubbock, Denise Kirsch and husband Gary of New Braunfels, Dena Eppright of New Braunfels and Wade Hooker and wife Melissa of Nashville, Tenn.; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Smalling; her parents; nine brothers and sisters; and her great grandchild, Hayden Harvey.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Harvey, Jim Ray, Rick Tadlock, Gregg Harvey, Wade Hooker, Gary Kirsch, Pete Santos and Pat Peters.
