Lifters finish 2nd at Abilene

Sweetwater boys powerlifting results

The Sweetwater boys had a second-place team finish Saturday when it competed at a powerlifting meet held at Abilene High School.
Sweetwater’s only individual winner was Mateo Gonzales, who lifted 1,440 total pounds to win the 242-pound weight class. Placing second in their respective weight divisions were Sam Nemir (1,330) in the 181-pound class and Alex Garcia (1,180) in the 198-pound class. Others who placed for Sweetwater were Jonathan Browning (750), third in the 132-pound class; Ryan Linebaugh (1,180), third in the 165-pound class; Don-ald Baker (955), fourth in the 148-pound class; Ken-dall Rea (1,100), fourth in the 220-pound class; Angel Caballero (1,075), fourth in the 275-pound class; Austin Marlett (910), fifth in the 148-pound class; Kyle Lam-bert (1,040), seventh in the 198-pound class; Chase Saunders (1,015), seventh in the 275-pound class; Zach Garcia (820), 10th in the 181-pound class; and Donato Gaxiola (900), 10th in the 275-pound class.
The girls will be at Grape Creek on Saturday, and both teams are at Clyde Feb. 9.
