Sweetwater girls powerlifters place at state meet

All four of Sweetwater High School’s athletes placed at the girls state powerlifting meet that was held on Saturday in Corpus Christi.
Loni Mendez had SHS’ top finish, placing seventh in the 181-pound weight class. She lifted 795 pounds with a 315-pound squat, 165-pound bench press and 315-pound dead lift.
Joslyn Rosas was 11th in the 220-pound class. She lifted 775 pounds with a 300-pound squat, 140-pound bench press and 335-pound dead lift. Cari Aguilar placed 13th in the 132-pound class as she lifted 645 pounds with a 250-pound squat, 120-pound bench press and 275-pound dead lift; and Lexie Perez was 15th in the 181-pound class with a lift of 670 pounds including a 220-pound squat, 135-pound bench press and 315-pound dead lift.
