Funeral services for Lillie Cook Burwick, 80, of Blackwell, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at Blackwell Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Casey officiating. Interment will follow at Blackwell Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
A visitation will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at McCoy Funeral Home.
Burwick died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, in San Angelo.
She was born March 7, 1930, in Lometa, Texas to Earl and Thelma Cook. She married T.G. Burwick on March 20, 1947, in San Angelo. She became Postmistress of Blackwell in 1961 and retired after 31 years of service on Oct. 2, 1992. Lillie was a longtime member of Eastern Star, the Euterpean Club, Blackwell Cemetery Association and the Methodist Church of Blackwell. She was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Blackwell Hornets.
Survivors include her husband, T.G. Burwick of Blackwell; son, Glenn Burwick and daughter-in-law, Tanya of Blackwell; grandchildren, Shay and Doug Mitchell of San Angelo, Lindsey Brown and husband Sean of Greebrier, Ark., Darin Burwick and wife Rachael of Abilene and Zac Burwick of Blackwell; six great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Cook and wife Connie of San Antonio; sister, Nell Smith of Merkel; sister-in-law, Billie Burwick of Sweetwater; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers-in-law, Bill Burwick and Ted Smith.
Pallbearers will be Dale Parker, E.K. Finley, Jessie Magness,, Kenneth Crain and Richard Crain.
The family would like to thank special neighbors Dale and Sue Parker, Shannon Hospital stroke unit and staff, Dr. Vanderzandt and Dr. Chang; also the Bronte Health and Rehab Center staff for their exceptional care.
