Local athletes to be in FCA all-star games

Several Nolan County athletes and cheerleaders will be in the Big Country Chevy Dealers-FCA All-Star Festival in three cities.
Chosen for the North team at the FCA football game June 14 in Abilene were Kaleb Hoover of Sweetwater and Shelton Toliver of Roscoe, and Sweetwater’s Micaela Reschman will play for the North team at the FCA volleyball game, also June 14 in Abilene. Blackwell’s Matt Lowry and Mason Magness and Roscoe’s Jesus Leanos will be on the North team at the boys basketball game June 12 in Brownwood and Highland’s Sierra Allen is on the North team at the girls basketball game, also June 12 in Brownwood. Greg Aiken and James Clift of Sweetwater are on the North team for the baseball game June 13 in San Angelo. Finally, Megan Carney, Kayla Chowning and Caroline Lawrence of Sweetwater have been cho-sen as cheerleaders for this year’s Festival.
All proceeds will go to benefit the FCA’s Big Country chapter.
The athletes will report for two-a-day practices in Brownwood on June 10 and in Abilene and San Angelo on June 11. Participants will also be honored at a banquet April 27 in Abilene.
Lowry selected to 2nd all-star game
Blackwell’s Matt Lowry has been invited to play in an all-star basketball game March 15 in Maypearl. The Texas Roundup includes the state’s top 24 boys and girls from Class 1A, 2A and 3A schools.
Players are selected from hundreds of nominations that are made statewide, and recruiters all across the state participate as advisors in the selection process. The game tips off at 5 p.m. with a girls game at 3. Maypearl is located between Waxa-hachie and Hillsboro.
