Broadway Baptist ChurchÂ
We all go through dark days and tough times. I can remember growing up and hearing, “No pain, no gain.” As true as that is physically it is also true spiritually. God desires to build in us a rock solid faith. The best way to accomplish this is through the “fire of affliction”. It is in these times we find a firm cable to the peace of God, a building up of our faith in God, and a steadfast assurance on the promises of God. By clinging to Him and trusting in Him our mountains become mole hills, our rivers of sorrow become lakes of peace, and our fires of affliction become faith of assurance. It has been said that a faith that cannot be tested, cannot be trusted. The greatest times of growth do not come when all is fine but when we go through sorrow, pressure and trouble. These are “growing pains” without which there is no gain. A poet wrote:
“I walked a mile with pleasure, she chatted all the way.
But left me none the wiser, for all she had to say.
I walked a mile with sorrow and not a word said she.
But oh the things I learned from her, when sorrow walked with me.”
Are you in the midst of dark days or tough times? Trust Him, He will see you through and make you stronger for the days to come.
If you don’t have a church home, we would like to welcome you to come and visit us this Sunday. Our Life Groups, which is for all ages, starts at 10 a.m. Our morning service is at 10:50 a.m. and our evening service begins at 6 p.m. Come and let us be a blessing to you as we worship the Lord together.

The “Study on Apologetics — Knowing What You Believe,” will not be held this Sunday evening (July 22) at 6 p.m., in order to make it possible for the entire staff and membership and public to attend the Ugandan Children’s Choir program, beginning at 6 p.m. in the FBC Sanctuary. The children will sing in both English and their native language (Luganda), play instruments, (including African drums) and dance traditional dances in colorful costumes. You will definitely leave this event with a new appreciation for the needs of orphans around the world as well as demonstrating God’s powerful hand at work in their lives.
As the summer of 2012 flies by at breakneck speed, FBC is totally committed to loving the world around us by reaching out to families in our neighborhoods and community with family-fun activities. Fraley Park (August 6-9) will be our final P3 for the summer (a blend of VBS and Back Yard Bible). In addition, we are collecting school supplies (list in church office) to fill backpacks for students who will need the extra help.
FBC loves our community! One way we want to better our community is by showing God’s love to our friends and neighbors who need a helping hand every now and then. On Sunday (July 29), immediately following the morning worship service, bring your school supplies you have collected for the backpacks and then bring them to the newly remodeled mission closet Open House, hosted by FBC Missions Committee.
Sometime between now and Thursday (July 26), don’t forget to drop by the church office, or email (email@example.com), or phone the church office at 325-236-6348 to wish Tique Hamilton, Minister to Students, a “Happy 32nd Birthday!”

With the fires in New Mexico and Colorado, residents have loss their homes, churches have been destroyed, other personal property and forest have been devastated. “Bless This House” asks prayers for all individuals involved, giving them support and strength in coping with the losses they have endured. Pray their hope and faith gives them encouragement in rebuilding their lives. Ask God that we, their fellowman, respond wisely and expeditiously in ministering to their physical, material and spiritual needs.
