The Sweetwater Elks Lodge will be celebrating in a big way this October. The local lodge will be celebrating its 100th anniversary on Saturday, Oct. 15. The Sweetwater Elks Lodge #1257 was recently presented with a plaque from the Grand Lodge Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks congratulating the local lodge for a century of dedicated service to the community and dedication to living the cardinal principals of charity, justice and brotherly love and in particular for carrying on the programs of Elkdom with fidelity.
As part of the 100 year celebration, the Elks Lode will host a steak dinner and country western dance in honor of the lodge's older members. The cost for the dinner and dance will be $12 per person. A special presentation will be made for the older members of the lodge. 100 year pins will also be for sale for $5 each.
The Elks Lodge is also currently selling tickets for a drawing to be held the evening of the 100 year celebration for a P250 40 caliber Sig Sauer handgun. Tickets are $10 each and only 300 tickets will be sold. The proceeds from the raffle will be used to support the children's and veteran's programs assisted by the Sweetwater Elks Lodge. Those interested in purchasing a ticket may contact any local Elks Lodge member.
