Local events for the weekend

Several events are lined up on Saturday, Aug. 9. The Roscoe Community Center will be hosting their second Saturday of the month Trade Days/Flea Market from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Roscoe Community Center, located on the corner of Bois D’Arc and Broadway.
There will be numerous vendor booths, flea market booths and concession stands serving breakfast and lunch items. If you would like a booth, or need more information, contact Connie at 766-3433 or 338-1287.
The Nolan County Fair will take place on Saturday and Sunday, with activities like the the Nolan County Mud Bog at the Nolan County Coliseum fairgrounds.
Registration will be held from 9:30 a.m. until noon, with the first round starting at 1 p.m. Tires allowed are street (33” and under), super street (34”-36”), modified (36.5”-39.5”) and open (40” and larger). No blowers and no nitrous, and there is 100% payback.
There will be fees for entry as well as admission for adults and kids; kids 8 and under get in free. For prices or more information, call Matt Hall at 325-721-5485 or Pasqual Ortiz at 325-733-5218.
And that evening, Great White will be live in concert at 7:30 p.m. at the Nolan County Coliseum. Doors open at 7 p.m.
Advance tickets are available at the Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce, The Flower Box and Gifts, Buck’s Steaks & Bar-B-Que and the Nolan County Coliseum. To purchase tickets by phone, call the Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce at 325-5488 and use your debit or credit card.
Also, Shady Mitchell and the Kickin' Kountry Band will be playing at the VFW on Saturday from 8 p.m. to 12 midnight.
