Ward D. Hayes was recently elected as Chair for Hendrick Medical Center’s Board of Trustees. Hayes is the senior pastor for Trinity Baptist Church in Sweetwater.
As Chair, Hayes will preside over Board meetings, guide and direct the governance process, serve as the Board’s central point of official communication with the hospital’s CEO and represent the Board at hospital and community functions.
“Sweetwater has been well represented on the Hendrick Board over the years, with J.V. Martin serving as Chair a few years ago,” said Tim Lancaster, president and CEO of Hendrick Health System. “The Hendrick organization has benefitted in having Board members that live and work outside of Abilene. Ward has already proven himself to be a well respected member of the Hendrick Board.”
Hayes has served on the Hendrick Board for 16 years in various capacities including as First Vice Chairman, Board Secretary, Audit Committee Chairman, Executive Committee Chairman, Joint Conference, Personnel Committee, Missions and Ministry and Medical Staff Development. He also serves on a variety of community boards including Logsdon Seminary Alumni Council, the Nolan County Ministerial Alliance and the Sweetwater Ramp Project.
As a certified public accountant, Hayes brings years of financial expertise to the Board. Additionally, he was the vice president of First National Bank in Rotan before entering the ministry field.
Hayes is married to Jenna Hayes and they have three children.
