Ryan Linebaugh

Ryan Linebaugh, son of Ronny and Portia Linebaugh, will be graduating in May with honors from Sweetwater High School. He will also be graduating Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society from Western Texas College with an Associate's of Arts Degree on May 10.
Linebaugh, who was raised in Sweetwater, began taking dual credit classes his freshman year of high school. "I decided to take a few summer courses and it wasn't bad; I really enjoyed it. The hardest part was learning all the online computer systems that each teacher uses and the amount of work expected from my classes," stated Ryan. "You have to be dedicated, but in the end it's well worth the work."
Linebaugh continued to take dual credit classes throughout high school as well as taking courses over the summer holiday. "I checked my hours going into my senior year and asked my parents if I could possibly graduate from WTC along with graduating from high school," Ryan said. His parents checked with the SHS administration and were told that he had to have at least 60 hours to graduate from WTC. Ryan then spoke with SHS counselor Mrs. Marina Wilcox and Principal Stacy Jones and was told there was indeed a way for him to graduate, but it had to be done concurrently along with dual classes in high school.
Mrs. Wilcox and Mr. Jones went to work calling people, checking classes, etc., all to help Linebaugh accomplish his goal. "We went over what I had already completed and what I still needed. A schedule was made for WTC and was put together with my high school schedule and it worked. I would definitely recommend this route for anyone looking to get ahead on their college career and also save some money along the way," said Ryan.
Ryan has been accepted to Angelo State University where he will begin working on his business degree. His plans after graduating from ASU are to begin working with his father, brother and grandfather at Harp Vending Inc., which is the Linebaugh family business.
