Local teams eliminated at area tourneys

All three surviving Sweet-water Little League teams were eliminated Monday at District 5 tournaments in Abilene. In the Minor League, the Mudcats fell 17-4 to the Abilene Eastern Longhorns and both Junior League teams also lost. The Rangers fell 22-8 to Snyder and the Reds lost 15-4 to Abilene Eastern. All three had won first-round games Saturday. A number of local players will be participating in District 5 All-Star tournaments June 24-July 5; the names of the all-star participants will be announced June 10 while the locations for the games has not yet been released.
Three Sweewater Little League teams were defeated in their first-round games of District 5 tournaments played Saturday. In the Major League, the Nationals and Hooks were both eliminated while in the Minor League, the Mudhens lost their first-round game.
