Local TxDOT employee retires
Donnie Cornutt, a 21-year veteran of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), retired from the department’s Mitchell County maintenance office on August 31. Cornutt began his TxDOT career in 1992 in the Nolan County maintenance section. At the time of his retirement, he served as Mitchell County’s sign technician. Cornutt was a Champion resident for almost 40 years. He and his wife, Jarmila just moved to Ovalo after both of their retirements. The couple has three children and seven grandchildren. The Texas Department of Transportation is responsible for maintaining 80,000 miles of road and for supporting aviation, rail, and public transportation across the state.
