Local woman killed Tuesday in accident outside Roby

A Sweetwater woman was killed Tuesday morning in a two vehicle crash along US Highway 180 about 11.1 miles west of Roby.
Brenda Karen Rainey, 61, of Sweetwater was driving a 2001 Volkswagon Jetta west on U.S. Highway 180 around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday when she was struck by a man driving a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup heading east.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Frank Perez Reyes, Jr., 84, of Snyder. He crossed the center stripe, hitting Rainey’s vehicle head-on.
Rainey was pronounced dead at the scene by Judge Tammy Morton and her body was taken to McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater, who will be in charge of funeral arrangements. The driver of the pickup was taken to UMC Lubbock Hospital for serious/incapacitating injuries. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
The weather was clear and cloudy and road conditions were dry. Investigating officer is Trooper Tobb Adkins, DPS Roby.
