Sweetwater Outreach Week was held June 9-11, 2011, and many local youth from local churches helped in efforts to assist local homeowners.
SOW is designed to help homeowners have pride in the house, help members to learn the blessings of service, and to give the Sweetwater community a renewed sense of faith in their fellow neighbors.
SOW selects several homes in the Sweetwater area that are in need of a “face lift” and then sends out a team of volunteers to scrape, paint and do various forms of yard work, all free of charge. They provide the paint, equipment and workers.
There are three prerequisites before a home is to be considered: 1) Due to physical limitations, the owner is unable to paint their house. 2) The homeowner must not be able to afford to have it painted. 3) The homeowner must own the house (they want the homeowner to receive the benefit, not a landlord).
