L.R. “Ish “ Wilburn

Funeral services for L.R. “Ish “ Wilburn, 77, of Abilene, will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Mickey Brooks officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2011, at McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
Wilburn died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at his home.
He was born Feb. 1, 1934, in Roby, Texas. He married Lorance Pinkerton on June 5, 1961, in Sweetwater. Ish was a U.S. Army Veteran and was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Abilene. He had been a sales manager for Caterpillar Co. and had been in auto sales. He had lived in Abilene since 1978, and in Sweetwater, Ira and Snyder before that.
Survivors include daughters, Carolyn Hale and husband Montie of Sweetwater and Elaine Kimes of Abilene; sons, Keith Wilburn and wife Tammy of Merkel, James Tyree and wife Jamie of Clyde and Tommy Kimes of Novie; step sister, Carolyn Sheffield of Sweetwater; two brothers, Pat Wilburn of Carlsbad, N.M. and Jerry Wilburn of Hereford, Texas; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife on March 6, 2010.
Pallbearers will be Wade Lawson, Kole Wilburn, Terry Tyree, Michael House, Andy March and James Trower.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jake March, Shannon Price and Don Vann.
