Lubbock teams win dual match with SW

A pair of Lubbock teams prevailed over Sweetwater’s volleyball team Saturday in a dual match played at Lubbock Cooper.
Sweetwater dropped its opening match to Cooper by a 3-1 count (15-25, 8-25, 25-21, 10-25), and fell 3-0 to Lubbock Monterey by scores of 11-25, 20-25, 16-25.
The Lady Mustangs (8-14) will play a single match today at Miles before returning home Sept. 24 to play Levelland.
Against Cooper, Ziggy Collins had seven kills and three blocks; Shaneese Brown had six kills, three digs and three blocks; Kayla Chowning had three kills and 12 digs; Kensi Chow-ning had three kills and four digs; Maddie Berry had three kills, three digs and one assist; Mikealah Foust had three kills, two digs and one block; Morgan Gomez had 19 digs; Aly Heredia had 10 assists, two aces and two digs; Maddie Jones had seven assists, one ace and one dig; and Mikki Reschman had two digs and four aces. Jones was named the player of the match.
Against Monterey, Foust had six kills, three blocks and one dig; Berry had four kills and one assist; Brown had three kills, three digs, one block and one ace; Ken-si Chowning had two kills and two digs; Reschman had one kill, nine digs and one ace; Kayla Chowning had one kill, seven digs and one ace; Jones had eight as-sists, four digs and one ace; Heredia had eight assists and two digs; Gomez, the player of the match, had nine digs; and Collins had one kill and two digs.
