Radiation Detection for a Safer World
Ludlum Measurements, Inc. (LMI) has been designing, manufacturing and supplying radiation detection and measurement equipment in response to the world's need for greater safety since 1962. Throughout its nearly five-decade history, it has developed radiation detection technologies and instruments in support of enhancing the safety of personnel and the environment. It offers one of the largest lines of radiation detection instrumentation available from any one company.
The company produces everything from simple Geiger counters to highly sophisticated border crossing detection systems designed to protect us from nuclear weapons of mass destruction. Its reputation for stellar performance, reliability and equipment longevity are unequalled in the industries it serves which include mining, oil and gas, nuclear medicine, research, emergency response, education, nuclear power, waste management and national security.
Started in 1962 by Donald Ludlum, the company has grown to now include almost 500 employees (almost 400 in the US and 90 in London, England) and six different divisions. Don's vertically integrated manufacturing philosophy has not only created many additional jobs for Sweetwater and surrounding communities but has also played a big part in making it one of the premier companies in the world. Ludlum's ability to control quality, cost, delivery time and quickly produce unique customer driven designs are unrivaled. Another key factor of its success is its on-going commitment and investment in engineering which has enabled it to produce world-class designs, address the needs of multiple markets, and keep abreast of newer technologies.
Unlike many of today's large corporations that focus on its stock holders, Don has always focused on the customer first and profits second; something Ludlum customers truly appreciate and respect. With a turbulent economy and too many US jobs constantly being shipped overseas, it's refreshing to know there are still US companies whose leadership and hardworking employees have risen to the top of the world stage and are making a real difference in making the world a safer place to live.
