Funeral services for Mable Cordelia Hankins, 90, of Sweetwater, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at McCoy Chapel of Memories, with Rev. Chris Stephens and Rev. James Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2011, at McCoy Funeral Home.
Hankins died Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at Nolan Nursing and Rehab in Sweetwater.
She was born April 26, 1920, in Duster, Texas. She married Charles P. Hankins on May 9, 1943, in Abilene. Mable lived in Sweetwater since 1921 and was a member of Broadway Baptist Church. She had been a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell and a house parent for West Texas Children's Home in Pyote, Texas.
Survivors include two sons, Danny and Rusty Hankins of Neosho, MO and Ken and Marie Hankins of Abilene; niece, Mary and Archie Carr of Sweetwater; nephew, Billy and Nancy Belew of Sweetwater; sister-in-law, Grace Corbin of Harlingen; nephew, Eddie and Kim Corbin of Mansfield, Texas; nephew, Craig and Paula Corbin; grandchildren, Mike, DeeAnn and Daniel Hankins; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ray Davison, Leon McElyea, Richard Alls, Tom Oteter, Sherman Wade and Josh Allred.
