Man cited for illegal burning

According to the Texas Forest Service, right at 500 acres were burned in a fire near Lake Trammell over the weekend. According to Nolan County Sheriff David Warren, the fire began on County Road 145 and was caused by a burning deer carcass. Ralph Lynch received a citation for the illegal burning during a burn ban.
Maryneal, Blackwell, Lake Sweetwater, Nolan and Roscoe Volunteer Fire Departments, the Sweetwater Fire Department, the Nolan County Commissioners and the Texas Forest Service helped to contain the blaze. Also assisting in the efforts were TxDOT, who brought fuel that kept the trucks going and The Big Country Medical Reserve Corps who brought a shelter out for firefighters to rest in while they were taking a break and refilling their trucks (shown below). Retired SFD assistant chief Terry Hendley also helped during the fire. "I would like to thank all of the firefighters and volunteers who assisted at the fire and commend them on an excellent job," stated Sheriff Warren.
