Manuela (Nellie) S. Aguilar, age 73, of Loraine, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013 at Covenant Specialty Hospital in Lubbock.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Okonkwo officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Nellie was born on April 17, 1940, in Ballinger to Floyd Sauceda and Maria (Calzada) Sauceda. She married Abraham Aguilar on May 6, 1961 in Loraine. She worked for Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital as a nurse's aide for many years before retiring. She was a Catholic and a strong believer in her creator. She attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
Nellie is survived by her husband, Abraham Aguilar of Loraine; two daughters, Mary Helen and son-in-law Rafael Torres of Snyder and Nellie Ann Aguilar of Loraine; five grandchildren, D.J. Vanderpool, Ashley Silva, Dominic Vanderpool, Jazmine Delacruz and Dalila Aguilar; eight great-grandchildren; and twin sister, Mary Ann Mendez of Sweetwater.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Floyd Sauceda, Jr.; her father, Floyd Sauceda; and her mother, Maria Salgado.
