Many enter Lake Sweetwater kids fishing tournament

A total of 45 kids signed up for the kids fishing tournament on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Lake Sweetwater, sponsored by Pappy's Bait and Grill Shop and the Sweetwater Kiwanis Club. The event was held at the Lake Sweetwater public boat ramp, with the competition running from 8-10:30 a.m. Prizes were awarded for the Biggest Fish, Smallest Fish and Outstanding Angler to the following age groups: 3-5 year olds, 6-8 year olds, 9-12 year olds and 13-16 year olds. Judges for the competition were Mark Morgan and Jason Bond. Attendees also got the chance to meet the game wardens from Nolan, Fisher, Taylor and Scurry counties including Trey Kram from Scurry County, James Cummings and Roy Johnson from Taylor County, George Pasley from Fisher County and Jake Simmering from Nolan County.

Each winner received a plaque, fishing poll, tackle box, gift bag and other prizes. Prizes were also drawn for other participants after winner prizes were given. Lunch was provided after the tournament for all in attendance.
