Martha ‚ÄúJo‚ÄĚ Chiofalo went to join the Lord on March 7, 2012, after passing away in Sweetwater, TX. She was born in Nolan County, TX, on Oct. 14, 1924, and graduated from Roscoe High School in 1941. She was married to Lawrence Chiofalo on March 11, 1967, in Connecticut. Mr. Chiofalo was a war hero, having survived the Pearl Harbor attack, helping numerous fellow servicemen to safety. Mr. Chiofalo previously predeceased Mrs. Chiofalo in death.
She was also predeceased in death by her parents, James Lash Windham and Martha S. Moore Windham; by her daughter, Kay Carrigan; her brother, Jay Windham; her sister, Bonnie Windham Polk and brothers-in-law, B.C. Pace and H.L. Polk; her sister‚Äôs daughter, Jean Pace Asbill; and her brother‚Äôs son, Bud Windham.
Jo is survived by her nephew, Jim Tom Polk and his wife, Karyl, of Austin, TX; her nephew, Jim Windham and wife, Mary, of San Angelo, TX, his son Shawn Windham and wife, Carice, and their three daughters of Odessa, TX; her niece, Sue Allen, and her husband, Jay, of Oklahoma City, Okla. and their daughter Teresa Hickey and granddaughter, Grace, of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Sue‚Äôs other daughter Jennifer and her husband Tim Lampton, and their sons Zachary and Griffin of Wellington, Fla.; Jo‚Äôs niece Texi Lea Carson and her husband, Joe, of Astoria, OR, and their daughter Donna Carson of Astoria, OR, and their other daughter Carol Hilliard and her husband, Dave, of Kennewick, WA, and their sons Steven and Paul Hilliard; her nephew Benny Pace and his wife Patti, of Houston, TX, and their son, Jonathan ‚ÄúTaylor‚ÄĚ Pace, of Houston, TX, Benny‚Äôs son, Lance Pace, and wife, Lori, of Houston, TX, and their two daughters, Lynley and Trinity, Benny‚Äôs daughter Kimberly Janak and her husband Mike of Houston, TX, and their daughters Kaitlyn, Mackenzie, Ashley, and Reagan of Houston, TX; her nephew Eddie Asbill of Sweetwater, TX, his daughter Terri Busse and her husband, Galen, of Dallas, TX, and their son, Austin Busse and daughter Brooke Busse; Jo‚Äôs nephew‚Äôs (Bud Windham‚Äôs) daughter, Karen and David Swinney, of Odessa (TX), and Karen‚Äôs daughters, Madison and Taylor Grace Casey, son Devin, daughter Christine Vasques, and Christine‚Äôs daughter, Jodie, Bud‚Äôs daughter, Rhonda Perry, and her husband, Larry Perry, Rhonda‚Äôs son, Chance, Rhonda‚Äôs son, Brandon, Brandon‚Äôs daughter, Hayleigh, and Brandon‚Äôs sons, Caden and Jordan; and Bud‚Äôs daughter, Jana Buchanan, of Odessa, TX, Jana‚Äôs fianc√©, John White, and Jana‚Äôs son, Michael, of Odessa, TX, her daughter, Candace, of Austin, Texas, and Candace‚Äôs son, Ethan.
In addition, she was survived by many beloved friends including Mitzi Hebert and her husband, children and grandchildren in Florida and Sandy Pearcy and her extended family in Sweetwater, TX.
Jo was a fun, loving and entertaining person, who loved many and who was loved by many. She was a great story teller and will be terribly missed by all who knew her. Her sense of humor will never be replaced. She was a member of the Cowboy Church. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations can be made in her memory to the American Heart Association.
Celebration of her life will be held at graveside on March 17, 2012, at the Nolan Cemetery, Nolan County, Texas, at 3 p.m. People wishing to caravan should meet at 2:30 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
