Funeral services for Mary Alice Henington, 89, of Plainview, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 25, 2011, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Jim Reid and Rev. Gene Cannon officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Family visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2011, at McCoy Funeral Home.
Henington died Friday, April 22, 2011, in Lubbock.
She was born May 18, 1921, in Vernon. She married Eli Willis Henington on Jan. 18 1941, in Sweetwater. She was a member of Sylvester Baptist Church. She had lived in the Sweetwater area since 1922. Henington graduated from Highland High School as Salutatorian. She attended Draughns Business College in Abilene. She was a homemaker and worked for American National Life Insurance Company for over 20 years before retiring. She had lived in the Champion, Capitola and Palava communities most of her life and in Plainview for the past three years.
Survivors include her son, Jim Henington and wife Jan of Plainview; daughter-in-law, Deborah Henington of Greenville; sister, Carolyn Estes and husband Raymond of Abilene; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Eli Willis Henington on Sept. 30, 1993; a son, Ronnie Henington on April 1, 2011; sister, Florence Harris in December 1992; two brothers, Glindell Petty on Dec. 27, 2003 and Kenneth Petty over 35 years ago.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and James Claxton.
