Mary McCrohan Peterson was born May 30, 1923, to Jack and Mary McCrohan of Maxwell, New Mexico. She grew up in Laramie, Wyoming and was a member of the 1945 graduating class of the University of Wyoming with a major in education, specialty in mathematics. Her vocation was education, teaching high school mathematics in Wyoming, Maryland and California before retiring in 1985 after 40 years in the classroom.
Mary wed Charles Peterson in Laramie on March 16, 1950. They were wed 40 years until his passing in 1990.
Maryâ€™s life ended on May 27, 2013 in Abilene, Texas.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: John and Gloria Peterson of Benecia, California, Robert and Lisa Peterson of Sweetwater and Edward and Elizabeth Peterson of Sierra Madre, California. She had three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the Church of the Heavenly Rest in Abilene at 2 p.m. with Father Luke Back officiating. Services are under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Northern Nevada Veteransâ€™ Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, Nevada.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of her life to the favorite charity of the donor.
Pallbearers will be Jim Kelley, Ted Sellers, Zollie Steakley, Austin Mullins, Andy Weaber and Joe Paty.
