Sweetwater Masonic Lodge #571 will have its third dinner benefitting the West Texas Children's Advocacy Center from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at the Nolan County Coliseum Annex.
Last year, the Masons were able to raise about $6,000 for the WTCAC. Some of the money comes from the dinner, but most comes from the silent auction that is held before and during the dinner. Those wanting to bid in the silent auction will find a wide variety of items to choose from. "There is something for everybody," said Mason Jim McKenzie.
Some items include a bronze statue donated by Dandy Western Wear, a Vera Bradley tote donated by The Wildflower Boutique and a chop saw donated by Sweetwater Steel.
"We are so thankful for last year's dinner and auction and would like to thank the people who donated and came to the dinner to support the West Texas Children's Advocacy Center. The Masons are so proud to be able to help such a great organization that helps the children of the community when they need it the most. We hope that this year's dinner will be bigger," said McKenzie.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. at the Annex for those who would like to begin bidding. Dinner will begin around 6 p.m. The dinner will consist of barbecue sausage and chicken with all the trimmings, all cooked by Masons and served by WTCAC board members. The silent auction will close at 7 p.m.
Entertainment will also be provided at the dinner by cowboy poet Charlie Davis and Rodger Lister. Flags will be presented by Sweetwater commanders.
âWe hope everyone can come and enjoy a great meal and great entertainment to help a fantastic organization,â said McKenzie.
Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased from any Mason or at the door. Children 12 and under eat free.
