The WTCAC serves children in Nolan, Scurry, Mitchell, Fisher and Borden Counties that are suspected victims of physical or sexual abuse or witnesses to violent crime. West Texas Children’s Advocacy Center, which opened its doors in 2000, was established to address the unique needs of child abuse victims. The center was designed to be child-friendly and to help children feel safe and protected during what can be one of the most difficult times in their young lives. The center also houses and/or works with representatives from child protective services, law enforcement, prosecution, counseling services and medical professionals with the goal of bringing a team approach to child abuse investigations, prosecutions and intervention services.
