Funeral services for Maurine Blair Jones, 86, of Sweetwater, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Phillip Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Jones died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at her place of residence. She was married to Zane E. Jones on June 30, 1949, at Seymour, Texas.
She was born Oct. 22, 1924, in Desdemona, Texas. Maurine came to Sweetwater in 1951. She was office manager for her husband Zane E. Jones, DDS for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church and very active in various church committees and functions. Zane and Maurine provided a strong heritage of Christian faith that is evident in the lives of their children and grandchildren. Maurine loved family, travel, sewing, gardening, cooking and her rose garden. She was past president of the Anthenaeum Study Club and member of the Book Review Club and the 42 Club.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Zane E. Jones of Sweetwater; daughter, Lindalee (Lindy) Gillenwaters of Conroe, Texas; sons, Zane E. Jones, Jr. of Belton, Texas and Dr. Blair Jones and wife Patti of Mansfield, Texas; brother, Fred Stephen Blair of Plano, Texas; her grandchildren, Erin Flores and husband Ben, Camille, Allison and Caleb Jones, Sarah Evans and husband Jeffrey and Katie Cantu and husband Scott.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Josephine Blair.
Pallbearers will be Dusty Lovell, Dave Ridley, Jerry B. Smith, Wendell Williams, Waymon Sowell and Watson Moore.
