McGee, Williams win at Big Spring

The Sweetwater boys track team got individual wins from Isaiah McGee and Deshaun Williams this past Friday at the Steer Relays in Big Spring.
McGee long jumped 20 feet, 9 1/4 inches to win his event and Williams was first in the high jump (6-0). Also placing in the high jump was Johnathan Browning, who cleared 5-10 for a fourth-place finish.
The girls got top individual finishes from Ziggy Collins, who was second in the discus (97-10); Abby Garcia, who was third in the high jump (5-0) and fourth in the 200 (27.41); and Nis-ha Williams, who was fourth in the 100 (13.34).
The 400 relay of Lexi Castillo, Williams, Davina Walker and Garcia was sec-ond (52.54) and the 800 relay of Lauren Jones, Wil-liams, Walker and Garcia placed fifth (1:54.72).
Sweetwater’s JV boys had 88 points to place second in their division.
Mark Lawrence was first in the 800 (2:09.63) while Michael Green was second in three events — the 100 (12.04), 200 (24.13) and high jump (5-6). Jacoby Hunt was second in the long jump (18-6 1/2) and Green was third (18-0 1/2), and Hunter Mobley was fouth in the 400 (56.11).
Two of the Mustangs’ re-lay teams placed. The 1600 relay of Max Gomez, Law-rence, Mobley and Green was first (3:48) and the 800 relay of Hunt, Gomez, Lawrence and Green placed second (1:39.34).
Danielle Vega placed in both sprint events for the JV girls. She was second in the 100 dash (14.41) and sixth in the 200 (30.07). Also placing for the JV girls was Kaitlyn Foster, who took fourth place in the discus (78-1).
