Mercer named SHS Teacher of the Year

Candace Mercer

Candace Mercer was named the 2013-14 Teacher of the Year at Sweetwater High School.
She has taught 9th-12th English and Speech for 36 years, with 27 years of those years within Sweetwater ISD (Independent School District).
Mercer earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Angelo State University, and has been a member of the TCTA (Texas Classroom Teachers Association) and Delta Kappa Gamma. She is also involved at First Baptist Church.
"Teaching, for me, has been a life, a calling, a mission," said Mercer. "Teaching at Sweetwater High School — with the people I have had the privilege of working with — has been a blessing and a joy."
