Mikel “Mike” Dee Looby

Mikel “Mike” Dee Looby, 66, of Duncan, Ariz., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at his home in Franklin. He was born on July 15, 1945 in Houston, TX. He married Euthamia Looney on June 12, 1965 in Sweetwater, TX.
Mike attended school in Sweetwater, TX and attended many other business courses. Mike was a devoted Christian. He showed his love through the service he gave to his family, community and his country as a U.S. Marine. Mike worked as the manager of the Phelps Dodge Mercantile in Morenci for over 30 years before it became Bashas’ grocery store. He was involved in several community organizations, including Greenlee County Search and Rescue, Greenlee County Sheriff’s Posse, NRA and Cattleman’s Association. He sat on Greenlee’s Fair and Racing Commission at the time of his passing. Mike loved his family and grandchildren first, horses, and especially his four dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Euthamia Looby of Duncan; two sons, Brian Looby of Colorado and Brice Looby of Duncan; brother, Tommy Looby; two grandchildren, Acacia and Evan Looby of Missouri; and one great-grandchild, Zander of Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Mary Elona Looby; sister, Mary Margaret; and a brother, Ross Looby.
