Munday spoils Roscoe’s HC

Roscoe Plowboys football coverage

ROSCOE — Roscoe trailed just 6-0 after one quarter against Munday’s heavily-favored Moguls, providing some hope for the Plowboy fans who showed up for the school’s homecoming.
However, Munday dashed those hopes by finding the end zone six times over the next two periods en route to a 55-6 victory.
The only solace for Ros-coe fans was that the Plow-boys (0-5) avoided a shutout on Eduardo Gallegos’ 61-yard touchdown run with 4:42 to play.
Gallegos led Roscoe with 72 yards on 13 carries, but Munday had too much fire-power as the Moguls (4-1) out-gained the Plowboys 461-137 despite running 18 fewer plays. Roddrick Taylor led Munday’s rushers with 140 yards and two TDs, while quarterback Dee Paul accounted for a total of 182 yards and three scores.
It was the final non-dis-trict game for the Plowboys, who get an open date this week. Roscoe starts District 7-A play by hosting Hamlin on Oct. 7.
Roscoe’s defense was led by Chris Deleon, who recov-ered two Munday fumbles. The Plowboys’ leading tack-lers were Mathew Cuellar and Dillon Freeman with five apiece.

Highland defeats Blackwell
Highland’s Hornets (2-3) got their second win of 2011 with a 62-12 victory against Nolan County rival Black-well on Friday. Blackwell is now 0-5. Both teams are at home this Friday. Complete game information will run later this week.
