Music and praise at See You At The Pole
Many students participated in See You At The Pole this year, with many showing up for morning prayer around 7 a.m. at the Sweetwater High School flag pole on Wednesday morning, Sept. 26, 2012. Sweetwater High School student Dallas McFaul led the group in songs, also playing his acoustic guitar. “AWAKEN” (from Ephesians 3:14-21) was the theme this year for the annual global day of student prayer. This is the 22nd anniversary for See You at the Pole, a student-initiated and student-led movement that started in the Ft. Worth suburb of Burleson, Texas in 1990. SYATP brings students to their school flagpoles to intercede for their leaders, schools and families, asking God to bring moral and spiritual awakening to their campuses and city. To celebrate the student’s efforts and what God is doing on Sweetwater school campuses, the Sweetwater Youth Ministers Alliance has organized a post event rally called the Saw You at the Pole Block Party. The block party will be held Wednesday evening, Sept. 26, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. downtown on Oak Street. All area junior high and high school students are invited to attend. Hotdogs, games, music and prizes are just a few of the things one could expect at the event. Guest performer, rapper and artist Brian Burk of Lubbock will be performing and delivering the night’s message. The worship team from Trinity Baptist Church will close the event.
