Mustangs seek revenge vs. the Loboes

April 15, 2014

The District 4-3A playoff picture is unsettled, but a win today at home would help the Sweetwater baseball team’s chances of making the postseason.
And avenging a 7-3 loss on March 25 when Sweet-water played at Monahans would be nice, too.
Wylie (6-1) has a one-game lead over Big Spring with Sweetwater and Mona-hans (3-4) tied for fourth with three games left, one game behind Snyder (4-3). The top four teams will ad-vance to the playoffs.
The best scenario today for Sweetwater’s playoff chances would be a victory over Monahans along with a Wylie win over Snyder, which would tie Sweetwater and Snyder for third place. Sweetwater still has games left with Wylie and Snyder, both on the road, and a loss today might force Sweetwa-ter to win its last two in order to have a chance.
The Mustangs lost 5-3 at Big Spring on Friday in a game where Sweetwater once again fell behind early and dropped to two games back of the Steers (5-2), who’ve won their last five games after starting 0-2.Big Spring hosts last-place Greenwood (0-7) today.
The Sweetwater softball team will miss the playoffs this season with an 0-8 rec-ord, but would still like to get a district win by defeating Monahans (2-6) at home today. Snyder (8-0) leads Greenwood (6-2) and Wylie (5-3) in the 4-3A race.
