Mustangs win 3 events at Snyder’s meet

Sweetwater won three events in varsity boys track action at Snyder’s meet this past Thursday.
The 400 and mile relays won with times of 44.07 and 3:36.6, respectively, while Deshaun Williams was first in the high jump (6-0). Only Snyder (133) and Stamford (113) did better in the team standings as Sweetwater scored 112 points at Snyder to place third.
De’andre Gatson, Mar-quees Jenkins and Isaiah McGee ran on both winning relays, while Johnathan Browning was also on the 400 relay and Kaleb Hoover was also on the mile relay.
Sweetwater also received a second-place finish from its 800 relay (1:32.8), which included Jenkins, Gatson, Browning and McGee. Also, McGee was second in the long jump (20-2 1/2) and Browning fourth (19-1); Hoover was second in the high jump (5-8) and was third in the 400 dash (53.7); Browning was second in the 100 dash (11.1) and fourth in the high jump (5-8); Gat-son was fourth in the triple jump (38-10 3/4); Mark Lawrence was fourth in the 800 (2:10); and Jay Lomas was sixth in the 200 (24.4).
In the girls competition, Sweetwater had 44 points to place sixth. The Lady Mustangs’ only winner was Abby Garcia, who was first in the high jump (5-0). She was also fifth in the 200 dash (28.1) and ran a leg on both the fourth-place 800 relay (1:54.8) and sixth-place 400 relay (54.15).
Nisha Williams and Dan-ielle Vega were also mem-bers of both relays, while Lexi Castillo also ran on the 400 relay and Lauren Jones was also on the 800 relay. Also for Sweetwater, Jones was fourth in the 100 hur-dles (18.76); Williams was fifth in the 100 dash (13.2); Cierra Knox was fourth in the shot (29-6 1/2) and fifth in the discus (99-5 1/2); Marissa Sanchez was fourth in the 300 hurdles (53.7); Ziggy Collins placed fourth in the discus (101-10 1/4); and Mickenzie Brownlow placed fifth in the 400 dash (1:08).
