NCF gearing up for golf classic

February 7, 2012

The annual NCF (Nolan County Foundation) Golf Classic is scheduled for April 21, 2012 at the Sweetwater Country Club.

Members of the Nolan County Foundation are announcing their annual NCF Golf Classic scheduled for April 21, 2012 at the Sweetwater Country Club.
According to Jerry Riggs, President of the NCF, this event started in 2006 as a source of additional funding for spring graduates from Blackwell, Highland, Roscoe and Sweetwater high schools who desire to continue their education at any Texas college or university. Since its inception, the NCF has awarded $1,000 each to 133 graduating seniors.
This spring each Nolan County high school counselor's office will have uniform applications for any 2012 spring graduates who wish to apply. Forms will also be available at the NCF office located at First Financial Bank at 201 Elm, or by contacting Homer Taylor at 236-6680.
The 2012 Golf Classic will be played in a scramble format that will begin with an 8 a.m. registration followed by a 9 a.m. shot gun tee time. Last year approximately 100 players participated. Coffee and pastries will be available at registration and a brown bag lunch with refreshments will be provided.
NCF board members will be contacting businesses and individuals for sponsorships and registration for teams. With the already excellent Nolan County support demonstrated, members are looking for another record year.
Members of the NCF include Jerry Riggs, Glenn Bennett, Rod Wetsel, Ronnie Cox, J.V. Martin, Ronald G. Williams, Bill Johnson, Tom Rees, Jr., John Jay, Carolyn Lawrence, Jan Smith and Homer Taylor, Executive Director. Jacque McCoy, Chamber of Commerce Executive, serves in an advisory position.
For additional information regarding this event, contact Don Timm at Sweetwater Country Club at 235-8093 or Homer Taylor at 236-6680.
