NCF offering scholarships

March 31, 2014

Members of the Nolan County Foundation Board of Directors are announcing that this year's deadline for applying for the annual NCF Golf Classic Scholarship has been set for Friday, May 2, 2014. Each of the four Nolan County high schools has applications available for this year's graduating seniors. A public reception will be held at the Sweetwater Country Club to honor this year's awardees during the second week of May. Exact time will be determined at a later date.
Funds for scholarship awards are currently being secured by sponsors for the 10th Annual Golf Classic golf scramble that is scheduled for Saturday, April 19, at the Sweetwater Country Club. During the first nine years, the NCF awarded 199 scholarships of $1,000 each to graduating seniors to attend any Texas college or university. The NCF Board has adopted a goal for this year's scramble of $51,000.
Each NCF Board member is contacting potential sponsors for support for this worthwhile project. They are also encouraging both sponsored teams and individual players to sign up for the tournament. Don Timm at the Sweetwater Country Club Pro Shop (235-8093) and Homer Taylor at the NCF (236-6680) are currently signing up players. Last year a total of 100 players participated.
