The Nolan County United Way is gearing up for this year's Sweetwater Jaycees Rattlesnake Round-Up by holding a gun raffle sponsored by WETS (Wind Energy Turbine Services) and Crane Service, Inc.
The prize is a Remington Real Tree Camo Versa Max 12 gauge shotgun valued at $1,599. But for a donation of $5 each or five tickets for $20, the gun could be yours from the luck of the draw.
Ticket sales will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012 and will run through Saturday, March 10, 2012. The drawing will be held that day at 5 p.m. at the Gun, Knife and Coin Show inside the Coliseum Annex.
The winner does not need to be present to win, but the local United Way branch stresses that the winner must be able to own and receive the firearm by law. Also, the gun is non-transferrable.
The funds raised will benefit the Nolan County United Way's ten local agencies: West Texas Children's Advocacy Center, Cancer Services Network, SNAP, Women's Resource Center, Gateway Family Services, the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts, Medical Reserve Corps, Sweetwater Back Pack Buddies and the Big Country branch of the American Red Cross.
These agencies will be selling the raffle tickets, which can also be purchased at the reception desk of First Financial Bank. The Nolan County United Way will also be selling tickets at the Rattlesnake Round-Up on Friday afternoon leading up to the drawing on Saturday.
For more information about the gun raffle, please contact Wendy Smartt, the Executive Director of the Nolan County United Way, at 235-9522 or at
