Netters start new year by losing at B-Spring

The Sweetwater High School tennis team went to Big Spring for its first match of the fall season this past Thursday and lost by a score of 13-8.
“We fell short, but we fought hard to the end,” said SHS coach Shella Arnwine. “I am very happy with how we started.”
In girls doubles, Sweetwater’s No. 1 team of Kristen Casto and Hei-di Taylor beat the No. 1 team from Big Spring 8-2 while in the singles round, the Lady Mustangs almost had a clean sweep. Sweetwater’s winners were Madison Meneses (6-2, 6-3), Addisyn Cleckler (4-6, 6-1, 10-6 in tiebreaker), Casto (6-4, 6-4), Jenny Medellin (6-2, 6-2) and Kassidy Bird (5-7, 6-4, 10-6 in tiebreaker).
Both the JV and varsity teams will host Levelland this Saturday.
