New publisher welcomed

November 7, 2012

Glenn Stifflemire

Glenn Stifflemire, a Texas native with more than 40 years newspaper experience, has been named publisher of the Big Spring Herald and Sweetwater Reporter.
Stifflemire's appointment was announced by Terri Leifeste, a vice president with Horizon Publications, which owns both newspapers.
“We're very excited to have Glenn join our company,” Leifeste said. “We believe his many years of experience in the newspaper industry will prove to be a benefit for the Herald and the Reporter and their readers.”
Stifflemire was born and raised in Freeport, Texas and has served as a publisher for newspapers in Texas, Louisiana, Iowa, North Carolina and California throughout his career. He most recently was a group publisher for several newspapers in southern Louisiana before accepting his new position here.
“First of all, I'm looking forward to being back in Texas,” Stifflemire said. “I've heard some really good things about West Texas, and I'm excited to be here and do my part to help put out the best community newspapers we possibly can. I look forward to becoming involved in both communities and having the opportunity to meet the many fine people in the West Texas area.
“I want to emphasize that I have an 'open door' policy,” he added. “I encourage and welcome everyone to come by for a visit.”
His appointment is effective immediately, Leifeste said.
