The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for those to be honored as Outstanding Young Citizen, Outstanding Female Citizen and Outstanding Male Citizen for 2011. Nominations are also being accepted for Sweetwater's Business of the Year award.
Deadline for submission of nominations is 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19. Honorees will be announced at the annual Chamber Banquet planned for Monday, Sept. 26. Awards for Outstanding Citizen go to those who, in the opinion of the selection committee comprised of past recipients, have contributed to the welfare of the community and who have demonstrated a high degree of ability in his or her chosen occupation. Consideration is also given to those who have been actively involved in their church.
Recipient of the Outstanding Young Citizen award can be either male or female and must be between the ages of 21 and 40. Honorees for Outstanding Citizen must be 41 years old or older during the year the award is given.
For Business of the Year, nominees must be a current Chamber of Commerce member in good standing, have been in business at least six months and cannot receive the award in consecutive years.
All nominations must be signed to be considered. The nomination form should include additional information detailing qualifications for consideration.
Completed nominations should be forwarded to the Chamber by mail at P.O. Box 1148 or in person at 819 E. Broadway prior to the deadline.
