O.C. “Spot” Hale

EASTLAND – O.C. “Spot” Hale, 101, of Eastland, passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2013 in Eastland. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Daugherty St. Church of Christ with Larry Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastland City Cemetery directed by Edwards Funeral Home.
Spot was born on Oct. 3, 1911 in Longworth, TX to W.A. Hale and Myrtle Arnold Hale. He married Madeline “Tootie” Hall on Dec. 24, 1932 in Sweetwater. Spot was a long-time rancher, owned several service stations and owned and operated Mercury Ambulance Service in Sweetwater. Mrs. Hale preceded him in death on Dec. 3, 2004. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Survivors include his daughter, Sandy Stephenson and husband Roger of Eastland; two brothers, Jack W. Hale of Andrews and James A. Hale of Ft. Worth; three grandchildren, Brad Stephenson and wife Mindy of Eastland, Britt Stephenson and wife, Christi of Houston and Kyle Stephenson Rowland of Brenham; seven great-grandchildren, Sean and wife Kristi, Will and fiancé Ellysa, Tip, Ryan and wife Heather, Taylor, Derek, and Reese; three great-great-grandsons, Vaughn, Regan Britt and Rhett; and very special friends and caregivers, Randy and Roberta Dunahoe.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be sent to Foster Children’s Home, PO Box 978, Stephenville, TX 76401.
