Oncor rate case denied, bid accepted, two cents per capita approved for Atmos

The City Commission of Sweetwater met in regular session on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. in the City Commission Room of the City Hall. It was a full agenda.
The first reading for City Commission consideration and approval of an ordinance denying the proposed change in rates of Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC was given. The finding and determining of the meeting at which this Ordinance is passed Is open to the public as is required by law. The ordinance was then read into public record.
The City considered and adopted a resolution authorizing continued participation with the Atmos Cities Steering Committee; and authorized a payment of two cents per capita to the Atmos Cities Steering Committee to fund regulatory and legal proceedings and activities related to Atmos Energy Corporation. The resolution was read into the record.
Bids were put in regarding the replacement of a 10-inch water line in the vicinity of the new elevated storage tank located at 806 W. Arizona. Bid were opened at the meeting and there were four bids. Fambro Construction put in a bid for $232,620, J& K Utility Services put in a bid for $292,692, Morton Irrigation put in a bid for $188,950 and Roberts Construction put in a bid for $198,500. The winning bid went to Morton Irrigation. This also includes five PRV’s around town to regulate the pressure. These PRV’s make up $97,000 of the bid and the waterline is about $85,000 to $90,000. This is paid for by water development funding and there are sufficient funds to cover the plan. PRV’s locations have not been identified and will come at a later date. Water is working with city staff to determine areas with cross-connections and where lines are connected as once lines are put in, the areas isolated so they are not back-fed, which would defeat the purpose.
