The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
Ordra wore many hats during her 83 years of life. But the ones she wore the proudest were wife, mother and “Mimi’. Through the years she helped with Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school lessons, church secretary, school cafeteria worker, switchboard operator, member of the Eastern Star and she worked along side her husband of 63 years in Roscoe at his body shop.
Ordra was instrumental in bringing the United Girls Softball Association to Sweetwater and spent many years supporting the girls of this area as only “Mimi” could. She loved following local sports and cheering for her favorite team. For several years she and her grandchildren ran a snow cone business in Roscoe. She and Walter would invite students from Roscoe elementary for free snow cones.
Ordra was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Walter Lloyd Smith Sr.; her parents; brothers, Lee Willie, Edgar and Charlie Jones; sisters, Juanita Little and Lucille Hammond.
She is survived by her three children, Walter, Jr. of Sweetwater, Carolyn Smith and Patricia Forgay of Roscoe; grandchildren, Kevin Smith of South Dakota, Brian Smith of Arlington, April Sdano of The Colony, Victoria Pope of Giddings, Elizabeth Vinken of Roscoe, Marchelle Moore of Shallowater and Christina Wright of Burleson. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Frankie Little, Darold Little, Harold Little, Norman Moore, Greg Wright and Mitch Pope.
