Pair of p’lifters qualify for state

Sweetwater’s Dana Hohn and Roscoe’s Ashley Lara qualified for state competi-tion at their regional powerlifting meets last weekend.
Hohn, competing in the 165-pound class, lifted a total of 775 pounds for a second-place finish at the Region I, Division II girls meet in Fort Stockton.
Lara competed in the 198-pound class at the Region I, Division III girls meet in Mertzon and was ninth overall after lifting a total of 675 pounds, but qualified by having the second best total among Class 1A lifters. Lara and Hohn will go to the state meet March 14 in Corpus Christi. Also for Sweetwater, Eliza Delgado placed third in the 220-plus class (820); Zanesha Collins was fourth in the 181-pound class (650); Naomi Gonzales was fourth in the 220-pound class (745); Valerie Zavaleta was fifth in the 132-pound class (570); Kristi Ward was fifth in the 148-pound class (645); and Shana Wiltse was sixth in the 220-pound class (625).
