Patricia “Pat” Joan Wallis

Patricia “Pat” Joan Wallis, age 84, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at her home. Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 with Rosary at 7 p.m. at McCoy Chapel of Memories. Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Charles Okonkwo officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her children, Laura Headstream and husband Jimmy of Sweetwater, Linda Slabaugh and husband Paul of Abilene and Robert Wallis and wife Darlene of Belton; her sisters, Agnes Miller of Marshall, Illinois, Kay Miller of Palatine, Illinois, Mary Lucas of Frankfort, Indiana; and her brother Lawrence Staub of Hemet, California. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ashlye Headstream and husband Dee Jay Daniel, Amanda Gazalski and husband Chris and Robert Paul Slabaugh and wife April; and four great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Ava, Carson and Bradyn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Wallis on Sept. 11, 2004.
Pat was born July 9, 1929, in Clarkesville, Illinois to the late Joseph and Annette Staub. She married Robert G. “Bob” Wallis Oct. 4, 1947, in Marshall, Illinois and then they moved to Sweetwater in September of 1957, where they owned and operated Wallis Chevron Service Station from 1962 until 1977. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, the Catholic Woman’s Organization and the Alter Guild Society. She loved to play games with her family including Farkle, Skip-Bo and putting puzzles together. Pat was eagerly awaiting the birth of a great-grandson due in July by her granddaughter Ashley Headstream and Dee Jay Daniel and twins due in April by her granddaughter Amanda and Chris Gazalski. She was a very loving mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Cullison, Jerry Hulcy, Robert Paul Slabaugh, Dee Jay Daniel, Chris Gazalski and Don Hicks.
