Patsy Ann Hogue Carter, of Blackwell, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011. Visitation will be all day Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011 at the First Baptist Church Blackwell with the Rev. Daniel Dotson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Blackwell Memorial Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Carter was born April 11, 1942 in Pecos, Texas to Virgil and Nine Lee Hogue. She attended college at Texas State Technical College in Waco, where she studied Horticulture. She owned and ran â€śThe Shoe Boxâ€ť in Sweetwater, Texas and â€śThe Red Barn Ceramic Shopâ€ť in Alvin, Texas. Mrs. Carter was an avid crafter and enjoyed watching her many children and grandchildren grow. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Blackwell.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Benny Hogue and James Thomas Hogue.
She is survived by her husband, Chester Callen Carter of Blackwell; son, Garry Mensch of Arizona; daughter, Rebecca Whitecotton of Blackwell; sons, Ben Carter of Sweetwater, Russell Carter and wife Dottie of Waco, Steven Carter and wife Marcia of Waco and Scott Carter and wife Carrie of Soutlake; grandchildren, John, Brian, Sabrina, Kyle, Stephanie, Jillian, Stacy, Hannah, Morgan, Kendra, Andrew and Emma; great-grandchildren, Teagen, Laynie, Kaysen, John and Avery; siblings, Archie Hogue and wife Nancy of Silvercity, NM, Carrol Hogue of Alvin, Cliffa Hogue of Blackwell, Doris Wilson of Odessa, Judy Bruno and husband Steve of Macomb, OK and Linda Walker and husband James of Elgin, OK; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
