Play continues at District 5 tournament

Sweetwater’s four Little League teams continue play this weekend in Abilene at District 5 tournaments being held at various fields.
All four teams saw action Thursday, and Sweetwater’s Junior League (13-14) all-stars won big (25-4) against Jim Ned in their opening bracket game.
Sweetwater’s 11-12 year-old all-star team also began bracket play Thursday but lost their game, 14-3, to Abilene Eastern, while results for the Sweetwater’s 9-10 year-old all-stars faced Snyder in their first bracket game and also lost, 17-11.
Sweetwater’s 10-11 year-olds continued pool play on Thursday by losing to Wylie by a score of 12-0, dropping them to 1-1 in pool play with two games left. Sweetwater will play Abilene Eastern at 6 p.m. today at Wylie..
The Junior League all-stars play Snyder in the winners bracket today at Wylie’s field at 8 p.m., while the 11-12 year-old all-stars will play the Wylie-Southern loser at 3 p.m. Saturday at Abilene Northern in an elimination games.
Also, Sweetwater’s 9-10 year-olds will play Southern or Clyde at 5 p.m. Saturday at Clyde in another District 5 elimination game.
